Founding Boww
Boww Homes wasn’t borne out of some intellectual need for sustainability, or the evangelism of modern ecological advocates, but out of a respect for good materials, superior craftsmanship and quality, and a respect for the role resources play in communities.
You understand the value of a home, when you build it with your own hands, with materials you’ve gathered with care.
The story of Boww Homes is also the story of Raffaele G, our founder and visionary.
With a family background tracing back to European craftsmen and businessmen, Raffaele picked up some of the best values of resourcefulness and sustainability, with a view towards the community.
From an early age, he learnt to respect efficient design systems, responsible material consumption, and good recycling practices. All of which played a role in construction - learning under his father’s watchful gaze
The 2007-08 recession resulted in a business bankruptcy, and Raffaele had to live off the grid with his family, in a work trailer followed by a van, and find innovative ways to raise his children. They learnt to treasure the outdoor experience off the beaten track.
This experience led to a revolution in his mindset — that sustainability wasn’t just material, it was a lifestyle choice that impacted how he, his family and community lived their daily lives.
An innocent question from his son, “Dad, why don’t you build anymore?”, led to him picking up cardboard, a cutter and assemble what would be the first ever prototype for Boww Homes. It was conceptualized with the accumulated wisdom of his background and his years of experience living with a futuristic mindset.
There has been no looking back ever since.
